Preparing for winter to kick in....

...and while waiting stuff like this appear!

All cabins in Norway needs gray water filtering. It turned out to be a project on it`s own. Luckily I enjoy the digging. This photo is not doing justice to the scale of the whole that i dug...3 meter wide, and about 1,5 deep. And then all the gravel needs to go back to have proper drainage.

...and a little help was appreciated.
....finally!! But only one third of the work is now done...

Wonder how the landscape will turn out in the end. But I doubt that I will be able to see that before next spring due to the soil freezing.

..pouring in all the different gravel that is filtering and cleaning the water.

...to be continued.

We are now officially connected to the grid! Cheers..

..one of us got half-way through the shower and the water stopped. Turns out I needed to put on the heating cable for the water pump and pipes :)  ..and my neighbor recommended me to make this insulating box to survive the roughest winters. Rock-wool and Leca gravel will be added next weekend.

...and then fall was ending as well..

The outdoor stair..

A sketch of the already built stair.

The cabin gets settled!

The task of the day: move soil - a lot of soil, to connect the stair with the site.

Summer 2010

The kitchen counter has been thoroughly used during several trips to the cabin this summer.

The evening sun in our bedroom..

Just before the summer kicked in, our bathroom sink was installed.

...less than one year after construction started!

Digging the ditch that connects the cabin to the pole nearby.

The box will go well with the soon to be gray Kebony cladding.

Now the job is handed over to us :-) The first thing we have started with is to re-plant the site with the existing flora. First step is to cover the drainage filling with geo-textile.

..and then add the soil. There are huge piles of soil on the site that needs to be evened out. Why pay for fitness centers?

We are using as much of the existing rocks and stones as possible in our entrance area and around the cabin.

The stair will be a great way to enjoy the sun setting. Lots of soil needs to be replaced in the bottom of this to meet the right height.

View from a hike looking back at our cabin on the small hill in the middle.

If you follow the white curvy road down you can see the cabin behind the birch tree.

The sun setting in mid summer..

Summer preparation..

..before the guest could arrive, a bed needed to be made in the guest room.

My plan is to make a single bed above this one as well, to cram in as many as possilbe.

We got a terrace..

The day after i finished digging the carpenters arrived
and started erecting the construction for the terrace.

The cat seems to enjoy the new level and easy access in and out..

Some days later they arrived to fasten the kebony
terrace boards. The soil edge of the terrace will
need some more landscaping. I might use rocks to
meet the level difference.

The did a nice job cutting the boards along the rock
basin.

..and we got ourselves a new space to enjoy
the view in protection from rain and wind.
