      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Despite a talented cast and some reliably pleasant interplay between Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn, Couples Retreat leaves viewers stranded in an arid, mirthless comedy.

Audience Member Comedy that got me laughing a few times and also tries too hard - worth the watch when bored Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/02/23 Full Review Josiah M About average for this cast. But good movie for a date night! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/20/23 Full Review WILLIAM B I watch this every time I see it on tv. It's light hearted, and it's great just to pass the time. I guess some don't find it highbrow enough for them, but for me this movie is great. My wife and I find ourselves quoting this all the time. It's not lifechanging, but I find it well made, and funny. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/16/23 Full Review Marc Z This is exactly what I expected it would be. It was no more and no less. This was a Romantic Comedy about four couples that end up on an island getaway for a couples retreat. There are some very funny scenes here despite the fact that the movie is not great. Vince Vaughn and Malin Ackerman are very good. Jon Favreau and Kristin Davis are very irritating and unusually unlikeable in this. Favreau is actually unusually creepy. Jason Bateman and Kristen Bell are a little irritating. The sum is in some ways better than the parts in this one. It is a way to spend time and not terrible. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/03/23 Full Review Jason T I don't get the hate. Anytime I put this on I get good laughs. It's a great R rated comedy I wish they still made movies like this. It's just under classic status. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/02/23 Full Review John C Classic Jon and Vince comedy. Great cast. Funny and serious at times. If you live Vince and Jon's comedies you'll love this! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express [Couples Retreat] is all about acknowledging feelings and good sex. Do we really need a film to tell us that? Rated: 1/5 Apr 16, 2019 Full Review Deborah Ross The Spectator The narrative is clunking and lazy, there to get characters from A to B without any respect for coherence or us, the audience. Aug 30, 2018 Full Review Cosmo Landesman Times (UK) Couples is so formulaic, so fake and relentlessly bland, it's hard to care if any of these pairings get a divorce, drown or are eaten by sharks. It has neither the ring of truth nor the fun of fantasy.
