The Sims 3 Question

Do you like the sims 2 or 3 better(the sims 3.do you think it will be better than the sims 2)

Yes or no
*
Noooooooooooooo . I the sims 3 is boring the only thing I like doing is making my sims lol.Other than that its seems like the sims 3 developers slap us in the face by rushing this game . I mean you can not go swimming , you can not see your sims in resturants , shopping and extra . Now they insult us even more by having a Ambition pack coming out with only 3 ambitions het real . I want weather, pets, and so on..I used to play sims 2 almost all day addicted to it now I forgot I even got sims 3 . Simes 3 seems reminds me more of sims1 sims 2 was atep up now they are missing up. I mean really these expansion packs makes no sense in the order they are coming up. You would think they have season, petz ,, University and allow us to see our sims in the stores shopping and eating ,. My hope for this game was having seeimg the going to work but they gave us ambitions 3 ; 3 ambitions. .. I feel EA continues to improve NBA AND FOOTBALL GAMES BUT not your little grown adult virtual baby doll games . Its obvious they are out for the money and really dont care what we think.

I agree *nods*... Sims 3 lacks a lot that the Sims 2 had... now if the sims 3 still had EVERYTHING the sims 2 did... then I MAY have been satisfied... But again I agree with you... especially about how they look o.o I even changed the quality of the characters to 'very high' and was still rather dissapointed... and it runs so dreadfully slow because of the whole neighbourhood thing... yay for sims 2 and sim 2 lovers xD... my problem is that sims 2 doesn't work on my vista, I'm currently doing everything I can to fix it before my mum sells it >_< luckily I found a crack that enables you to play without the disk

I am a huge fam of the sims and was extremely excited for the sims 3 as I was for the sims 2. What a huge disapointment! I love the idea that the characters can have their own personality but they look like cartoons. Sims 2 was way more realistic. I thought that was a high point in the sims. The fact that it should be realistic. I also love the neighborhood thing. Its great! The only downfall is once I have a family and they are all grown up, I cant movee them out and play them. It is completely rediculous and so not fun. You cant edit anything and you cant have two families in one neighborhood. Terrible, terrible idea. They need to make this game realistic and keep the entire idea of sims 2 for this to keep selling. Of corse I was also one of the fans who have bought itthe first day it came out and I havent played it more then 6 times since. :( completely dissapointing! They should come out with an expansion pack to fix all the faults! Who agrees with me on this one?

@RagingReject to me they don't either, I like the graphics, and the game itself, on The Sims 2 better than The Sims 3. But I think in The Sims 3 the creators tried too hard to make the graphics look realistic, and all the sims in the Sims 3 look the same and unattractive

This may just be because I'm used to sims 2... but I think sims 2 is better... I got sims 3 today... and the creation of the character is slightly better (body wise, apart from the fact that you can't change breast size, you have to be obese to have even a C cup ¬_¬) but there isn't a wide range of clothes, sure you can change the colour, but when it comes to styles there isn't that much... same with hair style... oh and you can't create you own neighbourhood... you can edit the original one, but can't make your own

I'm sure once I've grown on the game I will consider it to be better... but if you do have the sims 2 I woudln't recommend selling it just in case you don't like the sims 3 like I didn't

I have tons of my friends living in my town, and it's cool because I don't have to take care of all of them, but I can watch them fulfill their dreams. I think the Sims 3 is awsome, and it is NOT slow (those who say it's slow, just have older computers). The only downfall is the price though :/

I've given the Sims 3 PLENTLY of chances but I still don't like it and enjoy the Sims 2 way better. I bought the Sims 3 the day it came out AND paid extra money because I preordered it and it was the biggest waste of money I've made in my life(for me, that's saying something). I just can't get into the Sims 3, I feel like the creators of the Sims 3 missed the whole point of the franchise and tried too hard in making the graphics look "realistic" (they look like shit, every character look like a baby and they all have the same apperance basically). I can play The Sims 2 all day long.

I totally agree with the majority of people on here. I rushed to the store the week after it came out, to find that it was a whopping 50 bucks, where I could buy the Sims 2 expansion packs for 20 something rather. But I brushed it off as the game being new. Besides if it was as good as the hype it was going to be worth it right? WRONG, soooo wrong. I installed the game and started playing it and was left going, "Are you serious?" I was very upset. For one, every sim looks the same when you make them. Especially the women. I have yet to make an attractive female character on the game, the body type for the female sim is awful too, she either looks to big or too thin, not to mention manly. The children on the game not only look the same but they have this weird hook nose going on that I am not digging. I hated the fact that I couldn't see my sim go to the store or book store, or out to dinner even. Things that were very possible by the Sims 2. Also, I can't create a new town or lot, which is very annoying to me. I also hate the aging feature. I thought I would love it, but it really just becomes a hastle if you have more than one sim living in the town. And they got rid of some of the main objectives the made the Sims 2 great. Like unlimited ways to make your sim creative, a good cook, logical. I mean they took away some of the best features to the game, for what I don't know. Yes, 3 does run faster, but consider that it doesn't have the same greatness that two had. And the aspirations piss me off. For starters when you get aspiration points you really don't want to spend them because the reasons are lame, in 2 you could get objects that would prove valuable or entertaining, now you just get some lame feature like being attractive, or able to throw a good party, which you do everytime you throw one.
I really, REALLY want to give this game a chance, but there is just so much about it that irks me. I really am thinking about uninstalling it and being done with it, re-installing all of the Sims 2 expansion packs. Hopefully when the new expansion for Sims 3 comes out it will change my mind and I won't feel like I have gotten the bad end of the deal. That's my two cents. Spend it wisely.

LOL! I totally agree with you. I hate the sims 3 for that stupid cartoon look, I like my people to look real. On the sims 3 they look real ugly, all of them. I am so upset that i was an avid fan and believer in this sims3 that i spent 50 bucks on it. I will never buy an expansion pack for this game, unless it magically re do that stupid cartoon look. sims 2 is way better. I never liked sims 1 because of the graphics but sims 2 was awsome. Sims 3 looks like a souped up version of the original sims. I am seriously thinking of just selling the stupid game and at least earning some of my money back!

lets keep going, Sims 2: Bon Voyage and Pets, every single EP added a ton of content WORTH while, in the Sims 3, a great game that COULD have been if it weren't for EAs greediness, all EPs and the game itself are half baked and brings us back to even Sims 1 which celebrities were 10x more fun than in Sims 3 Late Night. Restaurants as rabbit holes? Bookstores too? Shops? That's just plain stupid. the reason why its so cheap, is bc Sims 2 is over and prices go down as time goes by dumbass. Your stupidity seriously ticks me off.

Now on to 005196, Sims 3 has a lot more to it than just "you can place lots not being connected to the road", guess what, routing, the single biggest issue with Sims 3. Bridgeport had a tiny disruption in routing which made the game degrade over time, and you had to download a mod and use sp3e to correct it. Let alone ghost taxis, lost sims, etc that you had to use mods like Nraas Master Controller to solve it. And yes, it is true, Sims 3 seems to be completely in a different context than Sims 2. However, some things are just plain lame and shouldn't have been done that way, specially how buggy and half done the game is.

With Sims 3 the player really lose control of the game, for example aging or even seeing them go into a store. Plus the Sims look like cartoons characters.

Sim 2 is so much better you have much more control of your sims with the cheats, Sim 2 have the best expansions packs to name a few like Nightlife, Seasons, Pets, Open For Business, and University and good stuff packs as well, along with characters like vampires, aliens, werewolfs and plantsims, and more.

I just do not see fans taking all their expansions EPs of Sim 2 and just put them in a box and say good bye, that would be too much money wasted. I do not think Sims 3 will ever be as good as Sims 2 maybe in the next life but not this one. lol

I have friends that are crying their heart out because they have the Sim 3 and wasted their money. I say play Sims 3 at your own risk and just wait for your PC or Mac to crash, There is an old saying if it is not broke do not fix it. I will not try to keep up with the Jones just because Sim 3 is new sometime new do not mean better, I will continue to play Sim 2.

While I enjoy both games, I'd have to say I enjoy Sims 2 more. The Sims 3 has better graphics yes, thats a hands down. However, I'm a firm believer that if you only play a game for the graphics, you're nothing more than a graphicswhore. Sims 2 has more features that I enjoy, and I am so used to the gameplay. There are features in the sims 3 that I really enjoy, like picking personality traits, and making the sims look unique. But i found building the houses to be too unfamiliar - they were trying to go for an easier system, but I found it more annoying. I don't particularly enjoy a lot of the furniture added to the game, or the wallpapers or the floors. Now I don't have the best computer, but playing on someone else's I still felt the same. I'm also not a fan of the 'playing only one household at a time' feature. I like the idea that everyone is doing their own thing in the neighbourhood and that they age as well. But one thing I really liked about the Sims 2, is that I could make a family, play them for hours. And if I got bored, I could go back to the neighbourhood and play another lot. When I go back to the first family, they're right where I left them. It was like being "God" haha - I could completely control this whole world. In Sims 3, you get to explore the neighbourhood with your sim with no loading, but if you want to play as someone else, the other sims you've created will keep on "living".

I've currently uninstalled the sims 3 and I'll come back to it eventually. Maybe after a few expansion packs I'll enjoy it, but the base game is just not what I want from my sims experience. Sims 2 had a really fun base game, and now that I have basically all the sims 2 expansions, I'm getting more out of my gaming experience right now. I waited a long time to get the sims 2 as well, so maybe I'll do the same for sims 3 and just wait for a bunch of expansions to have been released before I try to enjoy it.

Personally, I have to say this.

What the hell? I bought a fifty dollar game with all of my free-spending money, and Sims 3 was a GIANT let down. Please let me prove my points.

1. "It only crashes on old computers"-- Well, that's too bad I had a brand new gaming Acer computer especially meant for things like that. More weak attempts to defend your piece-of-crap game.

2."Sims 2 only had like three good expansion packs.."-- Well, in Sims 2, nearly all of the expansion packs offered many things. Such as traveling, college opportunities, living in an apartment w/ all the experiences of one, rain/snow/hail, opening and managing your own business, going out and partying, actually entering stores, owning dogs/cats/womrats(haha)/birds, having a hobby and MUCH More with the style packs. With style packs I received different types of, well, styles, like H&M, Teen Style Stuff, Glamour Life, Mansion & Garden stuff, Ikea stuff, Kitchen & Bath stuff, Celebration stuff, & Family Fun stuff. Want to say Sims 3 has more?

3. "Sims 3 has more realistic personality creating people"-- well. Isn't that jolly? I can create a beautiful person (I can't, every time I try to create a Sim my GAMING computer crashes) and then watch them disappear into a restaurant, forever wanting to learn what else it offered, such as dancing. Personally the people look cartoonish and fake. Sims 3 may have great graphics and stuff, but Sims 2 has so many different things you can do, it's hard to choose. In Sims 3 it's very simple, because you can only do one thing.

4. "Sims 2 doesn't offer bike riding, going to the spa, or lots of the luxuries Sims 3 has."-- Okay. One Word: DOWNLOADS. Downloads from the Sims2.ea.com & from Modthesims.com make things JUST like that. Bikes? Check. Spa? That comes with an expansion pack! Check!

5. "Aliens, Vampires and other stuff aren't real so it doesn't matter"-- Who are you to say that they aren't real? I didn't know that you were the mythical creature expert. Aliens aren't proven existing, but they aren't proven NOT existing. Vampires, Werewolves, Plantsims, Witches/Warloks, & other mythical things are available in Sims 2 if you would like to lead that life, and who knows if Wiccans magic DOES work? Who knows if there are people in the world that are so influenced with plants they become one? How do you know there aren't blood sucking dead people trying to drink your blood? AND SIMS 2 HAS ZOMBIES! If that's not BA, what is?

Lastly, the one great thing about Sims 3 is that it's a prequel. When I got Sims 3, I'd love going to Bella Bachelors house an wondering about the Bella Goth mystery. I love going to that one chicks house who's husband died and interacting with other people. I love continuing their life, with Alexander and Cassandra! Except Bella can't be abducted... Why? NO ALIENS! WHAT THE HECK?

There are more things to click on Sims 2 then Sims 3-- officially. We all have to agree though that a Sims 4 would be BEAST.

The Sims 3 is without doubt better than in Sims in terms of graphics. It also allows one to customize almost anything you could imagine. The removal of the loads screen also means that you don't spend most of your time looking at them same house. The Sims 3 also allows you to make truely unique and interesting characters which you quickly become attatched to.
However The Sims 3 lacks so many features that made The Sims 2 so unique and worthwhile. For example one cannot now create a new neighbourhood. Also it feels like going back to the original Sims as you cannot place lots where ever you please. Also you cannot go into community buildings just simply look at it whilst your sim uses it. By far the biggest feature however is the lack of custom content. One cannot make any currently. Hairstyles and clothing choice are also painfully limmited.
Given the Choice I would choose the Sims 2 over The Sims 3. I do however eagerly look forward to expansion packs that EA will release. Prehaps all theese failures will be addressed in future expansions.

Sims3owner said:
Hi, I was shadowing these Q and As for a minute I finally decided to say something.

The sims 3, which was not everything it could be, was a leap forward for the sims games. It had to be done, or by the next generation of games the sims would become worthless.

Now as far as game play. The sims 3 is not slow moving, as long as you meet/exceed the system requirements. If you do not, or you meet the bare minimum, then the game will be VERY slow. This is due to the fact that it is continuously loading in the background, it does this to make the in game illusion of a real-time town.

As far as custom content. You CAN make custom content. You do this in the CAS feature. Simply select the item you which to change, and then click on the little paint brush icon in CAS (Should be in the lower area of the tabs panel). Now you can make this item recolored for just one sim, or you can choose to save it and have it become available to all newly created sims.

Graphics. While I will maintain that the graphics on the sims 3 are cartoonish, I do believe that is was both intentional, and also an improvement.

Game developers (and scientists) have this term called "the uncanny valley". The idea is that when a robot, or AI becomes too similar in looks and in actions to humans, that as humans we reject this idea on a subconcious level.

Basically, if we look at something we percieve to be too human (without actually being human) we don't like it, it's creepy. Obviously not everyone will think this, but its enough of a concern that I think EA/Maxis will never go fully human looking with their future sims creations.

On a personal note. I liked the diversity of creation that was allowed on the sims 2 vs. the sims 3. BUT people are just now coming out with hacks, and custom content to add to the sims 3 and make it work the way you want it to. So give it time, I bet in a few months they will have created so many options for game play it would make our heads spin.

I really disliked the Sims 3. I only played on it for a short period of time as I couldn't grasp the concept of it. The features are far too confusing and the graphics are nothing compared to the Sims 2.
Some things I did like however are the different voice changers and the different traits you could have for individual characters. The people look quite scary, to be fair, unlike those of the Sims 2. I also rebooted my computer before installing and still it was very slow after having all of my memory free.
I bought it 2 days ago and already I am returning it after spending most of my money on it. It was very dissapointing.

well i most definately think that the sims 2 is better than the sims 3! I was so excited to get the sims 3 game but when i finally got the money to buy it it wouldnt even work on my lap top so i put in on the desktop and it worked but it is so incredibly slow that its not even worth trying to play! on top of that it freezes....the graphics r really good and i like the fact that u can customize almost everything and make it your own I also like the fact you can go downtown and go to your neighbors house but in the sims 2 u can actually view the inside of the building and actually see what your person is doing but in the sims 3 you cant! I think i would rather stick with the sims 2! maybe when i take my sims 3 game back i will go buy another expansion pack for my sims 2 game!! I just dont see the point in keeping the game when it takes me one whole hour just to get my girl to sit on a couch or get a job or leave a building! im a huge sim game fan and it takes a lot for me to say that it was a total let down! =(

I might be alone on this, but to me, I got the game, played it for a few days, and now I don't even play it anymore. Although the graphics are a lot better, there really wasn't that much of a significant change between Sims 2 and Sims 3. Luckily, I didn't buy the game, I downloaded it. And I'm glad I didn't buy it either, or I would have wasted 50 bucks. I ended up uninstalling it feeling unsatisfied. I'm not saying it's a bad game, just that there wasn't a big enough change from Sims 2 to Sims 3, and I just got bored with it pretty fast.

WOW.....This question is so easy to answer. This Sims 2 really is easy er and although it might take a bit nothing can top it.
I could not wait for Sims 3 to come out especially when it did not come out in Feb. like it was sipost to. On June 2 i had all my money saved and i went to buy Sims 3 after school. As soon is i downloaded it and started playing i was VERY upset. Every 10 Sec. or so it freezes even worse then Sims 2 and i am so confused. It is hard to play with the defects and confusing set up. Sims 3 has better graphics and loads faster but still freezes when you really want to play. I spent all my money on a piece of junk that is already 10 dollars less in target. Not to mention that there is barely any furniture or themes. I hope the company still sell Sims 2 and makes some new ones. Maybe even update it so it is basically the same but with better graphics. I really LOVE Sims 2 and would never expect Sims 3 to be so Terrible. All the fuss they made about it was for nothing and i am very disappointed in the company.

sims3 does seem better but there were some things on the sims2 that could have been added to the new game. like having your young adult sim go college by their own choice!! to you that my not seem all that cracked up to be but it's still cool.
though both games have good features that could have been brought together to have a more realistic expierence. there's only problem i see with the sims3, there's no BODY SHOP TOOL. thats why its problem u cant do much with it and why more people arent coming up with alot more custom content. now with the sims2, i had a few problems. 1st correct me if im wrong for i only have 2 expansion packs of the sims2 that i can only play a young adult on the university and have to work which sucks. 2nd when i want my sim to go somewhere i have to see that blasted load up screen. 3rd the game was slow. last it became really difficult to download custom content and i'm scrabbling around the internet trying to find something to help me with it. though i did come across a clean installer and it did work when it came to installing sims and lots. other then that it was a good game especially when it comes to the characters. some of u are right they do look like cartoons on the sims3 while on the sims2 the charcters that other people made, they look more realistic.
now u are all saying that the sims3 runs slow. im sorry but i must disagree for it really doesnt. but it was a bit slow in the beginning but i learned something, they have UPDATES. that come on regular basis just when u open the sims3 launcher but if u do get updates then the possibilities is u have to much things downloaded on your pc whether its only for the sims2,3 any other things or your pc isn't capable to hold the game. if its not that then i don't see any other problem, it should be running smoothly.
now the question that stands, is the sims2 better or 3? to u the sims2 is better because it been out the longest so we've gotten used to it and many people created alot more custom content and has more expansions. the sims3 just came out so we dont have as much as we wanted like on the sims2. i say we best be patient for more to be added to it and please just try your best on the new game and dont judge it as quickly for its really for creativity then anything else.

And the sims3 has the same actions as sims 2 but every one is making these rude comments if you want a really good time buy the 1st sims3 expansion or as I call it 3xpansion

It looks like it will slow down your computer it is very virtual to the extreme. It doesnt even look very fun because its just to much to it. So far, definitely Sims2.
I say so far because my hope is future expansion packs, like with Sims2, will improve on the game. While I've gotten used to expansion pack features, I don't understand why they got rid of base game features like a buyable hot tub, a variety of build objects or custom neighborhoods. I also feel it limits your play time watching the front of a building versus the ability to interact with other sims out in the neighborhood...you can go into one, why not all? Why change the automobile animation? But, I think what disappoints me most is the "nickel and diming" EA is doing with add-ons. Before you could purchase a stuff pack with objects, furniture, clothes, walls and floors for about $20.00. Now you only get about 50 items for $20.00. Big issue to contend with...

as far as the graphics go.. they didn't impress me as much. I was very disapointed with the hange in the look of the sims themselves. the sims 2 sims were fun!! their character and actions were a hoot!! these ones looked like cut out dolls or sumthing.

I thank maxis for their continuation of the sims franchise and trying tomake things bigger and better.. but, I would have just liked 2 see more sims 2 exps, especially one that makes all things completely customizable like the sims 3. plus the new character attributes.

so- take the cool hinge hat were added to the sims 3, make it into a sims 2 exp.. and everyone will rejoice!!! I know I will ;)

Sims 3 is ok. I got it for my birthday and I was so excited! I couldn't wait to get it! But when I actually got to play it I was kind of disappointed. It's great that it has new styles, but if it would have all the stuff from Sims 2 I'd be happy.Truth be told, Sims 2 is way better than Sims 3. But it's still good. I recemend you buy it for yourself and decide.

dont get me wrong i love the sims3 but i miss the being able to play anyone in the neighborhood and the families not moving on without you. so technically you can only truly follow one family per town ( if you get another town/make another town) and i miss pets and vampires and i really think open for business should come back. i even miss the hollywood one from sims original. so yeah.

The WORST thing about it is that you can't see them go into the restaurants or other places. How boring is that? ooo i get to twiddle my thumbs and try to imagine that they're having a blast inside. Um, i'm not buyin' it that it's that hard to let us see a sim serving people food. It's easy but it's obvious that they are making it limited so that they can bring those options back with an expansion pack so they can make money. Other than that, the look of the sims are cool. the new things are refreshing. i like it. the scenery is absolutely beautiful. But the other thing that pisses me off is that the babies are constantly in blankets and you can't take them out of the blankets. that's retarded. other than that, i love this game. it's cool

The whole thing on The Sims 3 where you can go around the entire neighborhood without ever hitting a loading screen and visit your neighbors and such is awesome, and I had always wished for something of the sort in The Sims 2. I went out and bought The Sims 3, it was around $40 I think, I came home and played it for a few hours and got bored. I HATED the way the new Sims look, way, WAY too cartoony. So I figured maybe if I install some custom content the game will be better. So I went and installed some clothes, a few new skintones and some makeup, the Sims still looked like crap to me. I'm irritated really, other than the whole Neighborhood being together, there's not much to the new game. I'm sad to say that my Sims 3 game has been sitting on the shelf for a while now, and I'm going to sell it soon. I thought about buying an expansion pack for it, thinking maybe that would make it better, but for fear of dissapointment and wasting my money all over again I've decided against it. I'm going to uninstall my Sims 3 game and all it's custom content and go back to playing The Sims 2. This game was an overall failed attempt for me.

Frankly, I think Sims 3 is great. I've had the Sims 2 for years, not to mention that I've played the original as well. I don't see why people are so upset with all of the things that Sims 3 has to offer (such as the characters, system requirements, etc.). For the characters, they stun me. Cartoonish? Somewhat, perhaps, but you only have to toy with them slightly to adjust them to your preference.

The neighborhood is what I really liked about it. I played it at my friend's house for a while (probably two hours or more) just to see whether to buy it or not. There was minimal loading, endless possibilities when it came to design, and the houses and decor- absolutely stellar. However, you have to make sure that your computer is capable of running the game. If it isn't, then why did you buy the game?

There's a lot of things from the Sims 2 that Sims 3 doesn't have -- but the game (if you haven't bought the EP yet) is just the base game. Before any of the expansions came out for Sims 2, it was pretty boring, but as for Sims 3 with it as a base game of itself, it offered much more in comparison.

A lot of people who are displeased with the game are people who have set their standards MUCH too high. This is a game; a dollhouse life to fit your whims. Lower your standards a bit and enjoy it for what you like it for; a source of entertainment with a seamless neighborhood and a fantastic way of expressing yourself.

I play Sims 2 again. Sims 3 are just horrible, they lack even basic features - like getting into buildings, shopping. Objects and hairstyles are awful, same with clothes. Some objects are taken from Sims2 as if the authors didn't bother creating new ones. The worst thing is that you cant downloads objects from the Internet.
Also sims look the same, I have impression that in Sims 2 there were more possibilities of 'sculpting' faces.
Sims 3 is a big rip-off and a joke. Maybe after they release 10 add-ons this game will start making sense r looking nice. I can't believe that seeing so many beautiful objects created for Sims 2 EA Games didn't try to make better quality content - still awful colours or clothes nobody would think of wearing in real life.

I was really excited when I heard that EAxis were going to release the Sims 3, especially the new features where you could alter the bodyshapes of your sims and give them traits (I was looking forward to the insanity trait, lol) but then I went on some forums and I saw some of the sims other people had created and didn't like them at all.
The women look masculine, the men just look...not like men and everybody seems to be suffering from Pudding-face Syndrome. Also, the loss of control over what your sims do when in the neighbourhood is a bit unnerving (call me a control freak but whatever), I don't like the idea that a sims I've spent ages playing with and building up with achievements and professions gets suddenly run over and killed (dunno if this is possible in TS3) out in the neighbourhood somewhere and all my time and effort is wasted.
To be honest, I'd rather stick to TS2; sure, it's old, outdated and the graphics aren't as stellar as TS3's, but I definitely prefer the more versatile, more customisable older version to the new one. (That, and I have yet to get all the TS2 expansions... :D )

I preordered TS3 and was so excited. But after playing it I was definitely disappointed with only one town to choose from. I didn't like the story progression. I would get my sim interested in a friend to make them a partner and they would have started dating/marry someone else. UGH. I even turned of the story progession and still didn't like it. So I quit playing 3 and just downloaded more custom content from TheSimsResource.com for the Sims 2. The only thing I missed was getting to pick any color and pattern for items and clothes. 3's sims all look the same. I picked up the first expansion pack for 3 last week and I am playing it again, but I have to have the mindset that it isn't the Sims, but some new similar game. I still consider 2 the "real" sims, and still play it more than 3...I, too, must be a control freak.

I actually prefer the Sims 3 to the Sims 2. The Sims 2 annoyed me because once I had a couple and they had five boys and when the boys moved out I had to visit each household and age them appropriately, it drove me mad! I like the fact that The Sims 3 has an open seamless living neighbourhood and the neighbourhood grows with you.

The personality traits are fantastic! They beat the crap out of the ones from the Sims 2 and the moodlets rock! That "wants and fears" annoyed me because I would always accomplish my Sims fears.

The negative? The sims look a touch fake, there should be car accidents and you should be able to see your sims at the grocery store, theatre, work, etc.

Overall I LOVE it! I will never go back to The Sims 2, even though I miss the Pets.

If you meet the system requirements, The Sims 3 is the best. I like Sims 3 better because of the "realtime" feature. Neighbors grow old with you, your family tree can extend, when you move to another household, the sims that you left from the other household will also grow old with you without necessarily playing those sims... and the story goes on.

Also, when a Sim tries to visit a lot or a house, other Sims that are left at home will also be doing their tasks. Neighbors also move a lot, when you try to visit their house, no ones home, but they will tell you where they at and you can go there and follow.

There is also an option to increase/decrease the Sim's life, like instead a teen grows to young adult in 14 days, they can move up to 150 days or whatever you like.

There are no loading screens when moving out of your home to view the entire neighborhood and zooming in to a house/lot/community lot.

There are a lot of things to discover in The Sims 3, if you have the hardware, spend some time to play it and you'll be surprised.

And just like Sims 1 and Sims 2, expect expansion packs with far greater features ;)

Ok, I have been a sims fan for a long time, and i was happy with sims 2. but when i found out about sims 3, i got so excited and really raised my expectations, and when i got it, no glitches, but just dissapointment. It takes a long time to make the sims you want, or just a pretty sim. its so hard to manage their life, and achieve their goals, and the house building and furniture options aren't as good. I mean, when i play, i want to make an interesting life easily. and also, you can make your sims go to places like their jobs and stuff, but they just dissapear and you are left outside. I still thought it was ok, but i was just dissapointed, and i didn't get as much of an addicting feeling as i did with the sims 2. so now i'm back to sims 2, having good cheats, making pretty and nice families, making my dream house. Also the expansion packs for sims 3 are terrible! world adventures? Some ugly new home stuff and ambitions? and really, if you wanted to do what those people did in the trailer, u gotta play for every hour of every day and it wont even be fun! I only got to play for about 10 minutes before I released that it wasn't what I expected, not only was it slow but it also shut my computer down many times in under an hour. I ended up finding the game boring and uninteresting. It reminded me defiantly of Sims 1. The Sims just didn't look right and though it was fun getting my Sims to walk around the time it just didn't capture my interest for that long. Though there are many things that were good about this game, Sims 2 seemed more enjoyable. This game would be better if It was Sims 2 just that they were able to walk around there town. I am at this very moment uninstalling Sims 3 and re installing Sims 2.

I fail to see how it's like Sims 3, when if you think of it, Sims 2 is exactly like Sims 1, just better graphics, genetics, (family tree stuff) and aspiration. Sims 3 has changed the game a LOT. The skilling system has changes, the personality traits improved etc.

No, Sims 2 is not exactly like Sims 1, and Sims 3 is not at all like Sims 1 or 2. That doesn't exactly mean that the "differences" are beneficial. Sims 2 innovated a lot of gameplay, which is what we loved. I have yet to see any new innovation in Sims 3 besides the seamless neighborhood, the story progression, and the skilling system and traits/personality. Ambitions jobs? You could make a restaurant, disco, car dealer, store, etc. in Sims 2 OFB. Same thing. Apartments? They are super lame in the Sims 3 LN, they are a joke, and so are celebrities, they couldn't get it right and do a replica of the Sims 1 Superstar, no, they had to make a crappy one. Boarding schools, prom, stores, restaurants, hospitals, all that..guess what? Rabbit hole, which is the equivalent of waiting for a loading screen to ACTUALLY see inside a restaurant, a shop, etc. I could go on and on.

Yes the sims 3 is sooooo much better than the sims 3!! First of all I assume were talking about the sims 2 with NO expansion pack or stuff pack added..yea it pretty much sucked I'm pretty sure it didnt have resturants those came with nightlife. So in the sims 2 you can become an alien..big deal its ugly anyway. There are sooo many great things in the sims 3 one thing I love is getting to see where my sim goes when they work! Havent you ever wondered on the sims 2 "where does Mary Sue Pleasent go anyway??" The sims3 is faster whenever i played sims 2 i would also be reading a book because if you actually want your sim to have a life its gonna take alot of loading. So one of the downfalls of the sims 3 is you cant go swimming in the ocean..wooo that was so much fun anyway. And I dont think my sims look like cartoon character if your sims look like that then you suck at creating a sim..

Okay, I found this because I searched "What's better? The sims 2 or the sims 3? I wanted to see if people felt the same way I did.

I've been a long time Sims player. From the original sims, to sims 2 and 3. Just like everyone else I was hyped. I loved the sims 1 and the sims 2 so naturally I thought the sims 3 was going to be a step up. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

Sims 3 has some nice additions, don't get me wrong... but not enough to make it worth upgrading over sims 2. I love the fact there are no load screens in the sims 3, and the desgin tool option. The graphics on items and stuff are nicer... but personally I like the sims 2 people more. The kids look weird when they're toddles/kids in the sims 3 >,< it's creppy. They have funny eyes and noses.

I feel like if they wanted to make the sims 3 it should have been better... period. It's sims 3 not sims 2. Sim's 3 should be an upgrade. I expected to see everything sims 2 had and more XD

Trust me save yourself the money and wait it out. It's not worth it :/ wait for more expansions... a lot more expansions.

Unfortunately, I have to say that I prefer the Sims 2 over the Sims 3. The Sims 3 has soo many cool things like personality traits and stuff like that but it's a SIM, not a real human and I like the way that the Sims 2 limited these things. Sims 2 was faster, funner and fabber. Sims 3 doesn't let you go in some community lots!! Not fair!! I feel guilty for spending all that money on Sims 3 when I've already got such a great game - sims 2!! + the expansion packs are great. I don't think Sims 3 will meet the standards of Sims 2. Sorry, sims 3 fans.

(PC version) To everyone that has said Sims 2 is better than Sims 3 you haven't given it a chance. If you're game is running slow try looking at the system requirements again, and make sure your computer is up to par. Secondly, it took 3 years for Sims 2 to get up to what it is now (check expansion pack release dates). Sims3 was only released a year ago and already has 3 expansion packs. Give it a chance, and time. Creating a game takes a lot of work, money, and time. I just bought it a few days ago and I feel that it has a lot of potential. It's a great base game. I can't wait to see what EA has in store for Sims 3 (expansion packs).

Yes, it already had 3 EPs, but look at them. Generations and Late Night sucked. Instead of doing full content EPs they are making half content ones, with crappy content from previous Sims 1 and 2 content, instead of at least replicating it. Sims 3 has a lot of bugs, and its not system requirements, most ppl who experience it have over the requirements. Guess what? Why don't you learn the coding of the Sims 3 and see what a disaster it is? Freezes, lag, mini freezes, CTD, routing issues, clogging, fake ghost taxis, missing townies, etc.

Well I remember when Sims2 FIRST came out I downloaded the game for trial and wasn't that impressed...Sims2 was more like virtual reality, copmare to original, too much going on, but of course anything new always have that sort of negative reaction from users until they get used to it. The worst bit for me though was the characters faces. People here complaining how they didn't like Sims3 faces looking like cartoon characters, well, let me tell you, when Sims2 first came out it was waaaay worse! Their eyes were huge and facial expressions were exaggerated to the point it was scary and cheesy...They really looked like 1960s Thunderbirds dolls (not kidding) lol Although after while, when all the customise skins and mesh came out Sims2 really improved. (I think this is when the Sims2 graphic got lot better...all due to the custom contents!) Well, same thing happening with Sims3 now. I didn't buy Sims3 until it's been on the market for a year, hoping for all the patches to be out to fix the technical glitch & custom contents and mods to be available ! and well, now I finally playing it my Sims3 game is pretty awesome thanks to the things available on the net. I'm playing it on my B.F super computer so there's no problem with speed either (I must admit it is very heavy game.. my poor laptop couldn't even open the game....!)

I must note the beauty of whole graphic in Sims3... especially scenery...how the whole town turn to lovely pink at dawn and sunset...the animation of moon light reflecting on the water and swaying of plants and trees, they are all breathtaking! All the traits you can choose for your sims are great as well, help to develop the characters personality and individuality further. Also like the little everyday wishes you get to choose for your sim, and it's clever how every time you grant them you are given life award points which you can use to add more traits for your sims.

Although on other hand I do wish some of the Sims2 actions and animations to be included in 3 as well (like whoohoo in public, jamming guitar session, pillow fight, bathing baby etc.), they have also taken out many objects which was available in Sims1 and 2 (like jacuzzi, piano etc.) so I'd like those to come back. Although they don't bother me that much considering all the other new traits and action they added on this game. Btw, if you go to the edit the town mode, you CAN build a lot on anywhere you want, move the houses & trees, build/buy things for your town ! I only discovered this while ago...lol and using Super Computer mods you can edit everything... the residents, instant switch of active households, be unemployed but with job title (i.e.homemaker), homeschooling kids, edit the looks/trait of sim etc without hassle.

So yea overall, thumbs up for Sims3! can't say it's better than Sims2 at this point but with more new expansion packs and custom mods on the way it has a potential to be much better than Sims2.

I can't say I know why the expansion packs that are now out are what they are now. Maybe they were aiming to try something new, to see how we the consumers react to it. And I'm betting that as long as we are able to make out voice heard to what we want to the makers we can get those expansions we want. I wouldn't expect the expansions to be LIKE their sims 2 versions, because this is Sims 3 so expect a more different approach to it. As for me I enjoy Sims 3 and the expansion packs and I am currently waiting on Sims 3 Late Night expansion pack which looks promising.

LOL. Are you guys stupid (No Offence). See in Sims 3 they have only began it. Sims 2 (Without Expansions) is a piece of crap. Every expansion in Sims 2 just includes a small feature, in Sims 3 expansions include more than they say; like in Ambitions, they were only talking about a few new careers and stuff, but it included so many game-tweaks, a lot of new items, washing machine; so many new careers. In Sims 2 lets say; Sims 2 Free time, that only had some professions and secret hideouts, it didn't have anything else. So think about it. I didn't feel Sims 3 was rushed. You can go to a friends house without waiting 10 minutes.

Small features? When I heard about the Sims 3 coming out I was super excited because my birthday was coming up and I would have birthday cash. I went and bought it, spending all of my money. I play it like everyday, but there are things that I miss from the Sims 2. I mainly miss the interactions, like going out to eat, playing with your baby, and some other things. I kind of miss the cut-screen things like when you have your first kiss... Sometimes they were a little over the top, but they were cute. It would be could have be able to have them in the Sims 3 but have the ability to turn them off. I think they should come out with an expansion pack that makes it more like "real life". Thats why a lot of people play anyway, to have like a different life. Do something you would never really do, like whoohoo with every guy you come across. I mean there are things in the game that is not humanly possible. And it would be good as an expansion pack because if you don't want it like real life, you don't have to buy it. That is just my opinion, I hope the EA people read these things and try to fix their game to how the people want it, or they are gonna lose a lot of fans.

After reading this topic, I decided I HAD to throw in my 2 cents. So I even made an account JUST to to post on this one topic (though who knows? I might post in more sims related topics)

Firstly, my opinion about the graphics? I fail to see how it is an improvement. The characters look cartoonish, and the girls look really freaky xD. But I got over that easily, for I was able to play sims 1 properly wasn't I? Definitely better then sims 1 graphics :P

Now, I must say you people really had to high standards, expecting the game to be something it wasn't trying to be. I think you expected the Sims 3 to be pretty much all the sims 2 expansions.

Look at it this way. Install Sims 2 Base Game, and Sims 3 Base Game. Play them both for a month, THEN judge it. Now then... I hope that you agree Sims 3 Base Game is better then sims 2 base game. When you think about it, Sims 2 is just like Sims 1, but with better graphics, aspiration, genetics and aging. That was the whole reason for it's making. The whole reason for Sims 3's making is to keep the game alive (Sims 2 will die out with the next generation of games) and improving the general gameplay.

People complain that Sims 3 content didn't have much? Well, neither did Sims 2! (Sims 2 basegame, I did get bored of easily)

I think most people are going through what is the Sims Base Game blues. You are used to the sims with all it's expansions, that sims 3 just feels like a downgrade.

So... answer me this? Are you comparing TS2 with all it's expansions with Sims 3? Seems kinda unfair to Sims 3 don't ya think?

Im now gonna improve my answer with a comment. The character's looking cartoonish? Meh, now that Im used to Sims 3, I actually love the characters, and the uniqueness and personaslity of them. Now, when I first played the game I made a family of 8, recreating many reallife family members. It was fun, but when I actually played, it was really hard. I couldn't really get into the game and enjoy what it was trying to give me. The whole idea of an open-worlded enviroment. So I made a family of one, and I actually realy enjoyed it ALOT. Because I was actually able to focus on my character in all he does.

me too registered on this site only because of this topic. i must say the graphic of the scenery of the sims3 is much more better than the sims2. for example, when you put a window on the wall, the way the sunshine comes into the room is more realistic, you can do the same thing to the sims2 and compare, the light system has been magnificently improved. and you have a beautiful sky, a beautiful sea. and have you noticed that the shadow of the trees is moving with the time progress if you select the fast speed you will find this. and you can ride a bike. although it's not good to not be able to see the animation of getting in to the cars, but you can see the whole process of driving around the town. to the characters, the body shape and the way they act is more natrual than the sims 2. and about the towns there are more towns now, there is one town even the shape is like a heart, just think of you can zoom in and zoom out at anytime to enjoy its special landscape. the only defect is the faces of the sims look worse than the sims 2, and there's another thing though i haven't tried but i heard other said about the looking of underpants when you see under a girls skirt has been removed in the sims 3(this may represent some kind of details missing, but the landscape is so much detailed!). but other features are perfect. many people wonder about why they upgrade it to the sims3 not just add more content to the sims2, that is because they should to do this as what upstairs has said, they have to keep the game alive, they have to use a whole new system for the better basement of the game, in order to enrich it later. i can see it's much better, especially the walking around in the neighbourhood. they can't do this if not making a global changing. but also, i am not satisfied with the faces. oh and i don't think the task in the world adventure is very fun(may because i didn't played carefully enough, i only played task 1st every time i start to play it again, the task just don't attract me. and i stop the adventure and to play something else), the task seems like a boring rpg game, though again the landscape is fantastic, and it's a great idea to add tour places of the world to the game and including their certain features, which makes you kind of enjoy the landscape of the real tourism. i think the sims in the sims3 are more capable for taking care of themselves, when you are playing, you can have meals while you look at them living by themselves. and if you want to control more you will be able too. and they have put a lot of attention to the game logic, you can find many things more reasonable. as they say you can experience the best part of your life in the game. and as the expansions come out, you can see features just like the vampires and accessable working place are continuously added in to the game. they have left many interfaces by which they can inrich the game content. there is no space for the text, i will comment below.

there is just one thing i am wondering that is , they have changed the working studio to develop the sims 3, though it's still EA, though the main backbone remains in the develop team, the studio is different. there are lots of examples in the game history that the games have turned worse after they changed the team, i hope this will not influence the quality of the game.

I want to correct something i said which was not very precise. i thought the sims in the sims3 is not as beautiful as in the sims2, but after, i found some sims made by others using certain kind of make up or skintone, they are as pretty as in the sims2. i think in the sims2, without the custom skintone or makeup, the person is not so beautiful either. so, the fact that the sims in the sims3 not pretty enough may be because of not using cutom make ups. and there are several things else better in the sims3, for example and very important, we can customize the texture of almost every thing. and we can place more things on a table in the sims3, and when we browse the furnitures or otherthings like clothes, we can choose to only see the custom ones, there are many things more convenient. and for the adventurous rpg task, it's not bad.

yes and no, I have played the sims all my life since i was 7 and i loved the game my aunt showed me how to play i'd watch her play she gave it to me it was mine i loved it. Middle school came and then everyone was into consoles and online games, so i ditched it (i did leave it in my closet) and on those online games i heard of sims 2 i never really knew there was a sims 2 i always told myself im gonna buy im gettin it for christmas never got it. but anyways i started to play it about 5 months ago and mind you im in high school now. I think i may have downloaded it illegally im not sure idk i got it for free someone put the key on the internet so i just put it in the ea thingy and got it (was suppose to be sims 3) anyways i fell in love with sims again on the home screen itd always say sims 3 beta now closed i was upset with myself for awhile but i found cheats for sims 2 and i read forums about how bad it was and knowing me this october the deluxe and late night came out for sims 3 so i figured hey why not cool even better. I play the game im all excited i make a lady preggo and everything.

My point is that sims 2 was cool. Sims 3 is awsome, sure i get bored sometimes but i still like itin a way sims 3 is better than all the other sims games;
* Can now go to job with most abitious sims (certain job)
*Create a Sims has free better clothes
*Sims do not look like cartoons (at least not on my comp to me they look the same as sims 2 but have more features[they look like what real people look like depending on the person])
*The Graphics as for going to any place with them driving and going around town.
ect.

Im just so surprised people are still complaining about alot of those things i mean like god people sims 2 didnt just hatch with all those packs (i dont think) i defenitly know The regular sims didnt and i know that sims 3 may take some time people are saying ea rushed it i dont think so i think your the ones rushing em complaining bout this and that when its not even true maybe it is for you and if it is buddy then get another comp or try a console bc mine works perfectly

Sims 2 is great just perfect its sparkled and shined sims 3 is the same as sim 2 but more dont you all see its like they are taking the sims 2 and putting it in a more 3D better realistic type of program i dont know how but they are im not a super tech but i know it may take time but im willing to wait cant you its gotten this far if they quit well then yea i admit save your sims games all of em just because something new is there doesnt mean you throw away everything else.

And as for there are no pretty sims your right dude there def. arent but the way i see it splash a lil make up on em and yea they look kinda good the ugliest ones are the ones born in sims world (not create a sim) So yea i think sims 2 is better now and yea i think sims 3 will be better than sims 2...eventually.

Jazzie remember, there are expansion packs that improve the going-out aspect of the game. I believe they would aslo add more hairstyles in those. When you regiester the game, you get 1,000 sim points plus a free town. (Download Riverview to have more towns LOL) I suggest using those sim points to buy more hairstyles like I did (I too was annoyed at the hairstyles). Also, you can download a create-a-world feature for free, off the website. That solves your create-a-town issue. I believe you can download other people's towns AND buy towns from the offical store. I say it IS worth £35, if you actually give it a proper go.

I <3 both games, but to be honest, i'm starting to prefer sims 2, more than sims 3.
Sims 2 was such a big improvement from the sims, and i was expecting a big improvement from sims 2 to 3. Yes the graphics are so much better, and the sims look so more realistic. But some great things from sims 2 have been missed out, for example:
Aliens-Where are they? I liked creating an alien family and laughed when my male sim got pregnant.
Seeing your sims shop - All though planning an outfit by clicking on a wardrobe is much quicker, i liked all the shops. Especially the clothes ones. It was a place to meet new sims (also to woohoo with them in the changing rooms) and to change your sims style.
Dates - i know this was in the nightlife expansion pack but i liked the dates, sometimes i would make my sim have a horrible date so they'd get a bag of flaming dog poo delivered to thier door :D
I do like the expansion packs in the sims 3 and i'm hoping they'll create some more like the sims 2 ones. (Pets, Apartments,Seasons) But most of all i would like some ALIENS, aliens that come down in a spaceship and take your sim as they cling on to the telescope. Not a green person with big eyes you have to create yourself!!! I just wander if they'll be able to fit that into some sort of expansion pack....

Yeah, I miss the Aliens :( They DID allow you to make a green skin tone, and you could edit the facial features to look almost exactly like a sims 2 alien. But in Sims 2, it was far more exciting to get your male pregant, as the only way to bring an alien to your neighbourhood.
simo7mate posted over a year ago

Yes, its fine to make a sim look like an alien, but it's so much better when you have actions to play with such as getting abducted or getting a male sim pregnant! :)

Im actually relived you don't have to see your sim shop, it's so much easier. I never cared for shoping, apart from the idea of getting new shoes, I mean come on, lets face it, in Sims 2 when you shop you do the exact sane thing everytime. Of course I didn't mind Nightlife, which the expansion Late Night was very similar. Overall, I don't know which I enjoy betters, Sims 2 or 3. Im 50-50 right now.

All things considered I think The Sims 3 is a bit better, but not in every single way so I still have a reason to play The Sims 2.

I was the same when I first played The Sims 2. It was better that The Sims 1, but there were still certain things about the first game I liked better so I still made use of my game.

However, The Sims 2 was a HUGE step up from The Sims 1, because there were so many aspects they improved. I don't think The Sims 3 is as big a step up as the second was compared to the first. But all in all I still prefer it.

My favourite thing about The Sims 3 (which gets better with every game) is how personalities work. In The Sims 1 their personalities only came into their characters a little. In The Sims 2 it was a bit more advanced in the way they animated and reacted. In The Sims 3 though the personalities are much more advanced; I love being able to choose from a range of traits. And once I've created my sim I love having social options actually based on those traits. I think it makes the simulation side of it much more playable.

I like the Sims 2 better. I used to be crazy about sims 3. Then I sorta didn't play it for awhile. I found my sims 2 disk while cleaning one day. I played it for, about 5 hours. I love it! Sims 3 is too - advanced. It just wants us to go through our pour sims lives too fast. (And I know, I am a constant fast forwarder on the time) I like Sims 2, because it doesn't have moodlets. The dang moodlets. They drive me crazy. And sims 2, it is more - well about as - real as it can get. They show facial expressions, and MEMORIES! I love looking through the memories. Teens can get zits, and toddlers are more fun, walking and playing and whatnot. The kids have homework, your sim gets excited when the complete a skill, or an occupation. Plus they have more reasonable expansions; weather, pets, seasons, universities, etc. Sims 2 - in my opinion is a lott better.

Listen, TS2 has 8 EPs. TS3 has 4, one of them hasn't been released. We haven't fully explored TS3, that's why TS2 is better. Give the creators some time, they'll expand TS3 to be as interesting as TS2. Stop whining.

As for me, I like both. TS2 is fun but you have to take care of them all the time and can't focus on any activity outside your house. I have a feeling their needs drop faster than in TS3. TS3 has better graphics and expanded interactions and personalities, but it still hasn't got many EPs. I can't compare them right now. Wait until all EPs come out and then I'll write a full review.

it totally depends on what kind of a gamer you are. if you are the kind of persn who likes to ocntrol everything you sim does, where he goes, kind of like playing god, this game is NOT for you.
although, for the REAL GAMER this is the best version out yet. if you want to really make your sim LIVE , this is the game for you.
i have played sims 1, 2, 3 and 9 expansion packs. 1)
i did fall in love with the beautiful realistic graphics of sims 2, which was a bit better than sims 3, but the actual GOAL OF THE GAME was somehow not in that game, and when i played the sims 3, well, THERE WAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH MY SIM'S LIFE. ONE POINT FOR SIMS 3.
2) sims 3 focuses more on the sims life overall, other than going to the bathroom or eating all the time(like in the sims 2). they do these things periodically, on their own. although, the conversation (house members ONLY)part about sims 2 was better, what with all the graphics and better zoom controls and all. BUT! in the sims 3, you can actually get out of the house and do , practically anything! the opportunities are a lot more! there are ACTUAL PEOPLE NEXT DOOR that you can meet and greet. so the over all LIVING LIFE AS A SIM thing, is WAY better in the sims 3.POINT FOR SIMS 3.
3). the sims 2 did have a LOT of furniture that i loved, especially the fashion show furni from the sims H&M. but hey, here, the custamisation of a sim is wayy better. although, i miss decorating a mansion, it's not as good as sims 2. 1 point for sims 2 there.
3). sims 2 had one thing i loved! i mean, truely adored! BEING GOD! YOU will control the life of the sims, like don lothario and cassandra's life, or the dreamer family's. so ONE POINT FOR SIMS 2 THERE.
4). THE best part about sims 3,is the personality trait, you don't just put dumb points in, you actually choose you sim's characters, evil, romantic, whatever.ONE FOR THE SIMS 3.
5). THE SIMS 3'S possibilities are a great thing, i mean, it's NEW for god's sake, give the game a chance, they introduced a LOT of expansions for sims 2, which is why we all enjoyed the game, but imagine, ALL THE JOB OPPORTUNITIES, ALL THE SOCIAL OPPORTUNITIES + ALL NEW WORLDS AND EXPANSION FURNI ! it will be the ultimate game for virtual life lovers!

so here's the final thing, sims 3 IS BETTER. because EA can introduce tons and tons of stuff to make the experience better. where as in sims 2, THE PLAYING GOD "" part was better.
GIVE THE GAME A CHANCE, you might even be able to become a business tycoon if they introduce an expansion pack like the sim's stores or something.
++++ ALL those who are voting the sims 3 down, give it a chance to get more expansion packs, you WILL SELL ALL UR SIMS 2 GAME and get the sims 3.

Sorry guys, when I went back on my old computer to play TS2, they seemed fake. Like they had no personalties or anything. Just some mindless sheep that needed taken care of all the time.(But I still like playing it :P) So you could say TS3 grew on me. My question is why are a lot of people saying the game sucks?

I mean look back when TS2 first came out. It was basically the same as TS1. Expect slightly different. But as they added more EP's and Stuff packs TS2 got better and better each time. Give The Sims 3 a chance people. I say in a couple years time TS3 will really surpass The Sims 2, with all of the Expansion and Stuff Packs. :)

They try to make a compilation, yet the expansions are half made, missing a lot of content. The sims 2 expansions were concrete, full of new content, entertaining for a long time, and not buggy. Alright. The Sims 2 has been out for MUCH MUCH longer, so of course there's going to be more expansion packs and custom content. The Sims 3 developers aren't going to release 10 expansion packs in a year. It takes time to create new worlds, items, clothes, hair, etc. You can't expect them to release it all so quickly, guys.

I've had TS2 for a while (5 expansion packs) and I loved it. Then TS3 came out. I wasn't used to it at all. No CC or mods, that's really weird to me because I had so much while playing TS2. Here's a picture of a sim in TS2 that I found on Google, and then a picture of a sim I made in TS3. Both have custom content.

link <TS3

Anyone who is thinking about buying the sims 3, DON'T! Trust me, EA think they r smart making all thease fancy new graphics and stuff, yes it runs faster, but the sims 2 looks better, sims 3 chracters look like cartoon chracters, that my Americans friends, is a fail.

The truth is the sims 3 and the sims 2 are very different games. You see, there are things that I like about sims 2 such as the sims graphics and the expansion packs. But the sims 3 has so much more. Being able to customise everything. Having a safe place to download custom content. Being able to really create your sims personality. Being able to actually play the game instead of watching loading screens. Exploring the towns in search of collectables. Being able to interact with other families from your neighbourhood. Updates which fix lots of issues and add heaps to the game. Being able to place lots anywhere you want instead of just attached to the road. Almost all of the people commenting on this have not really tried the sims 3, most have taken one look at it and said it’s too hard to learn how to use it. But really this game is really fun and enjoyable if you just give it a chance. Also the only fair way to compare the sims 3 to the sims 2 is if you take away all of the sims 2 expansion packs and just compare the two base games. I hope that those who bought the game and didn’t like it because they are too used to the sims 2, give sims 3 another go because I took a long to work out how to get it right, but once you know how you will wonder how you ever played the sims without all of the things that the sims 3 gives you. I personally like both games but, like most sims 2 fans, my favourite thing about the sims 2 is the expansion packs. I recently bought the sims 3 ambitions and it is so much better than the sims 2 open for business. If you don’t like rabbit holes then you will like this because you can go inside your sims workplace and tell them what you want them to do. Also don’t think that I don’t know what I am taking about because I have, the sims, the sims unleashed, the sims 2, the sims 2 celebration stuff, the sims 2 night life, the sims 2 pets, the sims 2 open for business, the sims 2 seasons, the sims 2 bon-voyage, the sims 2 free time, the sims 2 university, the sims 2 apartment life, the sims 3 and the sims 3 ambitions, so I am no stranger to the sims games.

Couple of things, if your pc is good, loading screens take nothing. I rather have a loading screen than a rabbit hole any day. Sims 2 has a safe place to download CC. With Apartment Life, you can interact with up to 7 families in the lot, yes it's not the magnitude of Sims 3, but it CAN..in theory..be done. Updates that FIXES issues? THat one is a joke. The Sims 3 is the buggiest game alive, thanks to EAs greediness. More than 50% of the playerbase has issues (freezing, CTD, etc.), more than 50% of the playerbase has to use mods, go on the sims 3 forums and check for yourself the endless issues. It's not that enjoyable, when it might suddenly start freezing and corrupting your saved game, and IT happens. The Sims 3 Ambitions> The Sims 2 Open For Business? You joking? The Sims 3 Ambitions gives you what, like 4 professions. The Sims 3 OFB gives you the ability to: Make a car dealership, a flower shop, electronics shop, restaurant, disco, saloons, home business. <--see? If you are to say anything btw the 2 EPs, say they are equally good, but Ambitions is not better than Open For Business, NOT even close. And no, you can't go inside their workplaces, except for the 4 introduced in the Ep. What's wrong with the SIms 3 is> buggy, half made, overpriced, EPs are mostly lame or a downgrade expect WA and Ambitions, and now Pets(c'mon, restaurants, coffee shops and book stores rabbit holes? Since you played the sims 1, you do know that even then, you could see restaurants, and coffee shops, etc. I own all Sims games and EPs, except Sims 3 Pets and Generations which I consider a joke and I'm not wasting my money anymore until the Sims 3 ends to see if they did anything worth it.

i think most of you guys aren't even giving the game a chance. for the people who say they played it for a day and stopped, well no duh things are gonna look different and seem weird at first, thats because its a new game. and i think some of you aren't being creative enough either, some of you probably make that 'modern' or 'normal' look. the sims 3 was created to be more diverse with things and create insane people, just like there is in real life. i think most of you just rush through when you create a sim. and for the people that are made about not being able to move out, yes you can? i do it all the time. futhermore there is an option to play other families in the game because my friends and family who play the game have their own different family that they play. and if you dont like the fact that people age around you and how life goes on, there is 2 different ways to make that stop. so there is my 2 since. i think people just didnt give the game a good enough chance. i love the sims 3. i think in the sims 2 they looked more flat and pixley. but thats just me. we all have our opinions. enjoy.(:

stopping EA's story progression does NOT actually stop it, people still do stuff, bad coding. We don't like The Sims 3 bc it's a big bug instead of a game, not well done, rushed and glitchy/buggy. I'm not gonna repeat the same thing over and over again, you sims 3 fans blur the truth, and put the sims 3 as the best thing ever, when it is full of flaws, TECHNICAL flaws, let alone some EPs that are a joke (namely, Late Night and Generations) Sure, the Sims 3 COULD have been the best of the franchise, but they did a horrible job at it (Thanks a LOT EA) the story of the players in TS3 usually ends in> freezes, minifreezes, progressive lag, fake taxis clogging, missing sims, routing issues, CTD, ragequit. I never saw so many issues in any of the other sims games.

Ok in all honesty, I have never played sims 2. But I was on youtube watching sims videos and it seems a lot better. Who cares about graphics? On sims 3 I get so bored, I keep having to buy new expansion packs just to entertain myself. I have to wait a month to get motivated to play the game again. And I always find myself skipping through time because I get so bored waiting for kids to come out of school and parents to finish work. And I hate how sometimes my house will catch on fire and kill my sims husband (one time my sim was pregnant) and it puts my sim in a bad mood! Then I have to quit without saving and start again.
I keep seeing people saying: My sims 3 crashes, they have updates. When i first got mine I had to save it every 10 minutes in case it crashed and all my data was erased. Then I updated it. You just have to watch for those. Even with expansion packs my game is still boring.
Since sims 2 is cheaper I am thinking about selling sims 3 and one of my expansion packs (the other was a download) to buy the sims 2. It just seems like they have more clothing options and more actions. Like on sims 3 your sims can't slow dance with each other. (just an example). Anyone who thinks sims 3 is better for graphics, honestly I could care less about the graphics. One thing I can say worries me about sims 2: Their hands seem too big.
I need someone advice, I don't know a lot about sims 2, and I'm afraid to buy it in case it's just so different I can't get used to it. When I first got sims I had to get sims 3 since there wasn't a sims 2 for a mac (or thats what my friend told me) which is the only computer existing in my house. I have never played any other version of sims, but I get so bored. And it took me a whole month to get the hang of sims. So I just need some advice!

I have been playing the Sims 3 ever since last January. I have Late Night, Generations, Ambitions,Pets, and the Sims 3 base game. The graphics are ok, but I have been having many issues with Custom Content products as well as mods. Not only that, but now that I have Sims 3 pets it messed up a lot of things. It won't let me use any other disc than Pets. If I try to use the other discs, an error comes up.
The games aren't as well as they advertise them to be! Late Night, in the advertisement it shows tons of people dancing at the hottest clubs. I payed what, about 30 bucks for it and there is barely ANYONE in the club. Not even one at times. Generations is boring. You get strange costumes and rabbit holes. Ambitions rarely (so people claim, never happened to me) will kill sims with meteors. You get a few jobs...Whoopee... Pets, is rather boring. Yes you get pets, but you can't really do a lot, nor can you buy them a lot of toys...
I'm thinking about switching over and buying a complete set of the Sims 2, to try them out. I've been hearing good things about them. I've noticed that sims in Sim 2 can look so realistic and be look-a-likes of celebrities or characters. I've seen Snape sims, Joker sims, Harley Quinn sims, even Lady GaGa sims that just blew me away with their appearances.
I have some small questions about Sims 2. Are there any major issues with the game? Sims 3 is giving me a lot of issues, and I don't want to have to deal with even more if I get Sims 2. And, how hard is it to customize outfits? I'm into creating fictional characters and celebs to share, and the easier it is, the quicker I can upload and share.

Y, I think the sims 2 and sims 3 have different qualities that are superior to the other game. The sims 3 create a sim is no doubt better and more advanced then sims 2, although the sim graphics deffinetaly don't compare to sims 2. truthfully I do prefer sims 2 over sims 3, for the fact that not everything is a rabbit hole, and you can actually dine with people, and everything is just more detailed. It seems like the sims creators just gave up with the sims 3, which is just sad. But hopefully I can say something differently when sims 4 comes out. :D

I honestly think The Sims 2 is better than the Sims 3. For a few reasons:

1. I can't create a new neighborhood. In the Sims 2 I loved making new neighborhoods and doing whatever I wanted in them. All I can play in The Sims 3 is Sunset Valley...and that annoys me because that neighborhood gets old after awhile.

2. There are TOO MANY Pre-made Characters in The Sims 3. I like Pre-Mades but there's no way I'd play all those pre-mades when all the families can live at the same time. It's just not my thing. In the Sims 2, 20 or so pre-mades was enough for me to enjoy them fully.

3. It's a lot more fun and easy to kill Sims in The Sims 2 than in The Sims 3. I remember in The Sims 2 I would make these Haunted Houses by killing townies and NPCS or playing a game called Survivor where 6 Sims are in one room and the last person alive gets to move out and live their life. The fires were fun because the Sims freak out sessions were hilarious and they were also funny when they were on fire like they were dancing. And you could easily just have them step over fire and POOF they're up in flames. In Teh Sims 3, at the very most, you could get one Sim on fire and then they're dead if they aren't extinguished. And if other Sims are on fire, they are immediately put out just because a Sims dies and that's not fun if you're trying to kill them all off or trying to create a Haunted House. Drowning them is the only fun way to kill them in The Sims 3 just because of the way they react.

It's also more fun to make music videos in The Sims 2 than in The Sims 3.

So therefore, if you want more creativity, dark or bright, The Sims 2 is my choice. I actually have to buy it again because I lost the code! Good thing my birthday is a month away.

really? I would imagine that by now you would know that you CAN create new neighborhoods/worlds in The Sims 3 with Create A World. Pre-mades were made to give the town some life. And your third reason is because they are easier to kill in TS2? Dude, I think TS2 owns TS3, but your reasons are really weak if not laughable, without counting number 1 which is false.

Personally, and this is just me, I ENJOY (key word, here) The Sims 2 more than The Sims 3 for a few reasons. One, the endless rabbit holes that seem to appear whenever I most want to see what my sims are up to. Two, the bizarre expansion packs. The Sims 2 expansion packs were much more organized and offered more bang for your buck. I mean Ambitions and World Adventures? Total jokes. Bon Voyage and Open For Business? Gold. For only twenty dollars, too. Now, as for The Sims 3 I have to say it is very aesthetically pleasing. The graphics are nothing to scoff at, and the create-a-sim and Buy Mode customization features are very nice additions. However, after a while these things are nice but the rest of the game is just boring compared to The Sims 2. Especially for someone like my who had every possible expansion for The Sims 2. Honestly, I think the people at EA rushed The Sims 3. Which is weird because of the huge age gap between the release date of The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 (2004-2009). The Sims 2 was a huge leap forward compared to The Sims, whereas the Sims 3 is more of handy additions to The Sims 2. At the same time, The Sims 2 has all those useful, well thought out ExPacks, making it the superior (at least in my humble opinion). Back to the expansions for The Sims 3. Pre-order has begun on Showtime and to me, this just sounds like another pointless ExPack for The Sims 3 that just doesn't offer enough for people to buy. All and all, The Sims 2 had better ExPacks which equaled more fun gameplay while The Sims 3 had better graphics, Buy Mode customization, and the World Map feature (which kind of backfired with the whole Rabbit Hole ordeal). Just some of my thoughts on The Sims 2 and The Sims 3
