Tips for printing free worksheets!
Basics plus tips for setting up your browser for better printing!
Basics
edHelper's worksheets are dynamic, which means that every time you click
to create a worksheet, a new one is created!
Once you have chosen the worksheet you want click the Create Worksheet Now! button.
I do not want to print the answer keys. How do I only print the worksheet?
You do not have to print all the pages of a worksheet. When you select print
from your browser, look at the page range selection:
The normal setting is all pages. However, if you do not want 9 copies of the answer key, you should not select all pages.
Instead select Pages and then set the from: and to: fields. You may want to try 1 copy first before printing lots of copies.
Worksheets with drawings
(Clocks, Geometry, Charts in Math Test Prep, etc)
A few worksheets that draw on your screen use Java to perform this function.
This includes the clock worksheets and the charts in the math test prep section.
The following is a clock which uses Java:
If you can see the above clock showing 5:30, then most likely you will be fine!
If you cannot see the clock or have problems printing it, it is suggested that you
download a copy of Java for your browser.
If you are using a Windows machine and the Internet Explorer
browser, you will able to use the automatic install of Java. Go to the Java
Web site at java.sun.com/getjava/download.html
and click on the "Click to begin" link. The software will begin to download
automatically. Follow the steps on the wizard to install the software.
How to Retrieve Answers
If you want the answers to the worksheet, you have to perform two functions
before you click the button to create a worksheet.
Enter your correct e-mail address
Click the box that says "E-mail me the answers"
It is important that you fill out these two items correctly. When you are finished, the answers will
be e-mailed to you when you create the worksheet.
To help you match your worksheet with the e-mail, an ID will be given to your worksheet.
Since your worksheet is unique each time you create one, the answers are only available if you click
the button to e-mail them to you. The server does not save the answers, so unfortunately we cannot provide you
this information later on if you forgot.
Can I have the Answers to Worksheet Id # 38374839?
Every time you click to create a worksheet on-line, a new worksheet
is created. This may include random numbers, random mix of questions,
etc. We do not store the answers on our server. Instead, we will
e-mail you the answers if you give your e-mail address. As long
as you enter a valid e-mail address you will receive them. If you do
not receive them it is possible that you either entered an invalid
e-mail address or if you use yahoo or hotmail that the message is in
your bulk mail folder.
For our test prep section, the answers are displayed at the end of
the worksheets with filled in bubbles. As long as you print out
everything, you will have the answers.
Since we do not store answers on our server, we cannot supply you
with answers from a previously created worksheet. If you e-mail us for answers, we will not be able to supply them to
you. In the case that you do not know how to solve a problem,
try creating a new worksheet and request the answers. The id number
of the worksheet is just a random number that is used so you can
match your e-mail with the worksheet you printed out.
Browser Suggestions
If you are printing puzzles we require you to use Internet Explorer.
By default, Internet Explorer has a header and footer that will print out the web page you printed from
and page number. If you remove the header and footer information, your printed worksheets will
look much more professional.
Click the File Menu item followed by Page Setup. The following
screen should open:
Clear out any data you have in the Header and Footer settings.
Fraction Worksheets: The background comes out blank
A few of the fraction worksheets use the background colors to fill in
squares (such as one-fourth). If you try to print these worksheets out
and notice that your printer doesn't print the background, it is because
your copy of (most likely Internet Explorer) is set to not print out
the background. Many times this is actually the default! To change this
to print background colors go to the Internet Options
in your browser (from the Tools menu). Click the Advanced tab,
and make sure Print background colors and images under Printing
is checked. That will fix the problem and the answers will then become
a real fraction instead of zero!
